Utility costs do consume a large percentage of a shopping centres cost of operations and overheads. When managed correctly, these costs can be reduced by up to 30%. Farnek’s award-winning environmental mall benchmarking study, endorsed by The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, was revealed earlier this year. The study provides a benchmark for malls to monitor their energy performance, water use and waste generation. Farnek and the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy are launching phase two of the study at this year’s RECON MENA 2018 encouraging all malls to participate. One of the study’s major advocates and participants, the Dubai Mall, will join the discussion to highlight how the study has helped it reduce consumption, have a positive effect on the environment and save on costs. The discussion will provide mall owners and operators with more visibility surrounding their industry’s energy performance, water use and waste generation.

During her tenure, she established a dynamic marketing department comprising over 150 employees and oversaw grand opening launches of some of the most iconic shopping destinations in the world including: Mall of the Emirates (featuring Ski Dubai), Mirdif City Centre Dubai; Bahrain City Centre, Bahrain and Beirut City Centre, Beirut – Lebanon.Before returning to Dubai in 2003, Pam and her husband lived in Cairo, Egypt where she held the position of General Manager of Marketing & Research for a large multi-use development which included 7 office towers, 2 residential buildings, 3 hotels and a super-regional shopping centre – CITYSTARS.Originally from Canada, Pam held the position of Director, Regional Marketing for Ivanhoe Cambridge where she oversaw the marketing activities for 21 shopping malls in Western Canada.She is a graduate of the University of Calgary, Canada and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a Major in Marketing. She is an ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centres) designated Certified Marketing Director (CMD), has over 25 ICSC Marketing awards credited to her name and has held various positions on ICSC committees, teaches at the Professional School of Development for ICSC, and was an awards’ judge for the ICSC Marketing awards for over 15 years in Canada, USA, Asia, South Africa, the Middle East and Global Viva Awards.Pam currently lives in Dubai with her husband and twin boys.

MECSC Deal Making is a platform that provides networking and right connection for decision makers in the Shopping Centre Industry to make and nail those important deals. Its a gathering uder on roof of developers, owners, retailers, francise operators and product and service providers to do a year’s worth of work in just 2 days of deal making activities.

How will you benefit from this event?

We, at the MECSC, will be the bridge to connect you or help you get the right connection to get those deals done!! As a Developer/ Shopping Mall Owner, it is important that you already have a list of potential Retailers and Franchise Operators that you would like to meet at the event. Concurrently, as a Retailer/Franchise operator, a planned meeting with a Developer/Mall Owner should already be in placed prior to the event.
